Contest: Guess and pick out the references/inspirations behind Rip Current’s Prom Outfit

Rip Current’s attire was designed solely by me but of course, what is an artist or designer without inspiration?  While sketching out his attire I drew many things I’ve seen into the design, erasing some, adding some, but ultimately it came down to 4 things that inspired me the most.

So how the jist: Find the references, the influences, the people, the clothes, that inspired this piece!  (For the full image of his outfit)

Guidelines

1. The ask box is open yes rejoice but do not SPAM it with stuff please.  One at a time should suffice.  When I answer one of your guesses/questions, THEN you may ask again.
2. You’re allowed to submit as much as 4 guess at a time in a ask/fan-mail. No giant lists. XD
3. If any of your guesses is right, I will tell you which ones were right.
4. Each correct guess will gain you a point; there is 4 points total that you can collect.
5. 1 point will get you a full vector of your pony’s cutie mark.  When doing pony OC commissions, I basically create the cutie mark separate and draw it on it’s on file, making it a vector so I can paste it to my pony and deform it to fit the angle and curve of where it’s placed.
6. 2 points will get you a free chibi pony! These chibis will be colored and detailed with shadows and highlights.  It can be of a canon, BG, or OC pony OR a ponification of somebody from something else. Chibi does not mean chubbie, FYI.
7. 3 points will get you a fully colored headshot of a canon/BG/OC/Pony-fied character.  An example can be seen here. Image file won’t be that big as that was for something else but you get the picture. 
8. Manage to get all 4 points and you’ll get a full out drawing of any pony (I’m not writing that list again).  Transparent BG sorry, no real BGs.  C’mon I’m still pretty sick, give me a break.
9. Even after getting the first prize, you can continue to send guesses and try to get all 4 prizes.
10. There’s no “Ultimate Winner” here.  So two people could easily get 1 point prizes, another the 2 point prize and some other people could easily get the 4 point prize.
11. Do I really have to say this?  I’ll say it anyway.  I answer the questions privately so nobody knows who’s guessing correctly.  Do NOT cheat and give somebody one of the correct answers.  If I catch you give out answers and being a cheater then you’re OUT.  No three strikes, you automatically go to the benches and you will get nothing, no matter if you’ve already been promised a prize.
12. The contest will end June 9th. That gives you guys a week to do this. C’mon guys you can do it.
13. Oh yeah and here’s a hint that might help you with one of the answers: Movies man.

I mentioned in my prom attire post that I had some things influence RC’s suit.  Well here’s your chance to throw out what it reminds you of!!!!!!

Here’s the jist:  The first person to give me AT LEAST 2 things that influenced his attire gets a free chibi pony drawing.  I’d offer a full thing but it was hard enough to get my health and mind together to finish this.  The chibi can be of any pony, OC/Canon/ponification of somebody/yada yada.  It will be detailed, shaded as I can do that much.

Rules

1. Do NOT spam my ask box with several things.  If you guess then wait till I’ve returned to you.
2. If you are to guess then you must have two influences in your guess, don’t make a guess and then give your other guess in another question. It pertains to the first rule and it would also tie in with the next one.
3. If you guess and one of them is correct then I will say so but not which one. If I was to tell you which one was correct then it would be almost like a hint.
4. If your guesses are answered privately, then it means you have yet to win.  If it’s public well, you win!
5. Do not bug me for hints cause that’d be like me telling you which one of your guesses were correct.  If you bug me about hints I will ignore guesses from you.

NEW INFO ON THE MINI CONTEST/GAME

I think I might’ve made it too hard to win.  Also I never set up a deadline or anything. So here’s an edit for the rules!!!

1. You can now send in one guess instead of having to do two.
2. When you guess and send them in, I /will/ tell you if it or one of them is correct.
3. Each correct guess gives you a point.  You can gain a total of 4 points.
4. 2 points will get you the free chibi pony.  It can be an OC/canon/BG pony/Ponification of somebody/etc.
5. 3 points will get you a headshot of a pony (example here—> headshot sample ))
6. Manage to get all 4 points and you’ll get a full out drawing of a pony.  Again, can be OC/Canon/BG pony/Ponification/etc.  It’d have a transparent background.  Yeah sorry, I can’t do backgrounds.  Give me a break, I’m still sick. XD;;
7. Even if you manage to get the 2 points prize, you can still go for the 3 points and 4 points prizes.
8. Multiple people can win.  As in three people might get 2 point prizes and then another might get another prize.  It’s not limited.
9. To tell anybody or help anybody by telling them one of the correct answers means you’re out.  If you managed to win a prize then you won’t get it.  Don’t let me catch you doing this. C’mon, no cheating.
10. The contest will end June 9th. This gives you more than a week to guess and send them in.  After that, nooooooooooope chuck testa

So I hope these new rules are better and make it easier for you to win.  I will create a point score chart later to show who’s gaining points and to motivate you. So may the odds forever be in your favor~! =u= HAPPY GUESSING.

Rip Current: Well, didn’t think I’d make it in time.  Kinda hard to attend cool event when things you got a job and things are wishy washy (and I don’t mean the waves when I say that ;;)  Well….since I was sorta stood up and got to avoid my “backup date”, I guess chillin’ by myself won’t be bad either. OuO  

This suit is sorta tight and really hot. ;;;

(( Told ya I’d make it to prom.  Yeah yeah, deadline’s tomorrow but….hey, I’ve been busy and other things but hey it’s PROM SEASON YEAAAAAAH.  I’m just glad I was able to muster up my health to finally finish this; the sketch was done for weeks, it just needed to be linearted and colored. XD

If you’ve been spending some times at the movies this year then you’ll probably know how influenced this suit is in some ways.  The design changed a bit from my first plans as it wasn’t creative enough.  So I input other design aspects in it, took out some other details and spruced it up.

I wanted to give him some gold in there but also stick to colors that would relate to RC as a ocean lovin’ pony.  So I mixed in some mossy;algae green and added some clear aqua water details that also go with his cutie mark.
